AGS recently completed the intricate task of disconnecting and reconnecting an extruder line from Amcor’s Oakleigh site to their Moorabbin site. This critical project was executed with precision and efficiency, ensuring minimal disruption to Amcor’s operations.

The project marked a historic moment in Amcor’s Australian operations as the Oakleigh plant shut down Line #5 for the last time. It also represented a historic moment for AGS, being the contractors who originally installed Line #5 thirty years prior. In the early 90’s, this was one of the first large projects completed by the AGS team at what was a Finewrap site at the time.

The process involved the careful dismantling of the extruder line’s electrical systems, which required AGS’s team of skilled electricians and engineers to meticulously label and document every connection. This step was crucial to guarantee a seamless reconnection at the Moorabbin site. The electrical components, including control panels, motor drives, and power supplies, were securely transported to the new location.

Upon arrival at the Moorabbin site, AGS undertook the complex process of reinstalling the extruder line, made even more challenging by the aged condition of the extruders components. The team worked diligently to ensure that all electrical systems were reconnected according to the original specifications in addition to contemporary regulations. Amcor wisely elected to conduct thorough maintenance and replaced several vital components along the way, ensuring that the extruder line would function optimally in its new environment.

This successful project is a testament to AGS’s expertise in handling complex electrical relocations, showcasing their commitment to delivering high-quality services while minimizing downtime for their clients. The smooth transition of the extruder line to the Moorabbin site marks another achievement for AGS in supporting Amcor’s operational needs
