Fade Testing Results
Two independent and highly respected research and testing laboratories have conducted environmental life tests on ChromaLuxe Photo Panels and have clearly concluded that ChromaLuxe Hi-Def Metal prints are the longest lasting photo medium in the market.

The first laboratories' testing replicated the effects of incandescent lighting along with indirect natural sunlight against the likelihood of noticeable fading over time. ChromaLuxe was compared against the top three long-lasting (archival) photo papers with test results showing that ChromaLuxe lasts twice as long as the next closest photo paper and four times longer than the third best photo paper.

The second independent laboratories' testing replicated the effects of fluorescent lighting in a windowless office environment. In this test, measuring the likelihood of noticeable fading, ChromaLuxe outlasted its next closest long-lasting photo paper by a factor of 1.7 times the life of the photo paper.

The ChromaLuxe Surface
The UV resistant coating is bonded to substrates that include .045" metal and ¼" or 5/8" thick wood. ChromaLuxe panels are fabricated into a range of display options that include HD metal wall panels, ready-to-hang wood panels, table top easel panels, and hinged multiple panels. ChromaLuxe products have a coating applied via a state of the art process which occasionally will contain slight imperfections such as small craters or bumps. We inspect each item very carefully, and if there are imperfections they will be within the tolerance provided on our reference sheet.

The vibrancy and dimensionality of ChromaLuxe products rivals any photographic product and exceeds the quality of traditional paper prints when placed behind inherently imperfect glass.

As you move beyond the 4"x6" print, ChromaLuxe provides exceptional quality of detail and resolution that allows you to turn your photography into the focal point of wall décor. Mounting blocks are available to attach to the back of the metal photo panels to allow them to float off the wall and offers a natural drop shadow.

 

UniSub have conducted extensive fade resistance testing on our ChromaLuxe coating using Sawgrass inks and tests show we offer the longest lasting photo panel in the market. They conducted two types of tests comparing ChromaLuxe Gloss White metal prints against long lasting photo papers to test fade resistance within a home and office environment.

 

The first test mimicked a room partially lit by daylight through a plate glass window, a typical home environment. ChromaLuxe was compared against the top three long lasting (archival) photo papers and test results showed that ChromaLuxe lasts 2-4 times longer than the photo papers.


The second test mimicked indoor fluorescent lighting without windows, a typical office environment, and compared ChromaLuxe photo panels against the longest lasting photo paper from test one. Fluorescent test results showed better life on both products compared to test one and that ChromaLuxe lasted 1.7 times longer than the photo paper.

 

Below is a synopsis for both tests; full archival test reports are available upon request.

Test 1 Procedure:

Test one procedure was performed using a Xenon Test Chamber equipped with window glass filters to simulate daytime sunlight through a window. No additional glass filters were utilized in front of the samples. Light intensity was set to 50,000 lux and the temperature was controlled at 25°C/77°F. Standard test targets consisted of cyan, magenta, yellow, red, green, blue, and neutral (black) patches at ten levels of color intensity for each sample type. Targets were measured for a 30% density loss. Test results showed ChromaLuxe photo panels to last 2.2-3.9 times longer than the photo papers.

Endpoints were calculated by measuring the .5 density patches and 1.0 density patches with the failure point defined as when any one of the color patches reached a 30% fade.

Test 2 Procedure:

Test two procedure used the longest lasting photo paper from test one (Photo Paper B) and compared it to a Gloss White ChromaLuxe photo panel. This test simulated a fluorescent room illuminated without windows.   The test was run using 50,000 lux of fluorescent light. Standard test targets consisted of cyan, magenta, yellow, red, green, blue and black patches, each at ten levels of darkness in roughly equal increments. Test results showed that ChromaLuxe photo panels last 1.7 times longer than Photo Paper B.

Endpoints were calculated by measuring the .5 density patches and 1.0 density patches with the failure point defined as when any one of the color patches reached a 30% fade.
